Transforming Tower into New Zealand’s #1

At Tower Insurance New Zealand, I worked as a Full Stack Engineer where I led major digital transformations on their online platforms. I re-engineered the WordPress multisite architecture, optimized frontend experiences with React, and built custom plugins to align with modern accessibility standards.

Through these changes, I helped Tower achieve the status of New Zealand’s #1 high-performing insurance website, dramatically boosting performance, reliability, and accessibility. From March 2024 to July 2025 at Tower Insurance New Zealand, I delivered a major digital transformation by boosting the Lighthouse score from 60% to 98%, making it the #1 performing insurance website in the country. I optimized WordPress multisite platforms with custom PHP plugins, enhanced security, and integrated dynamic React-based Visual Composer components to elevate user engagement and front-end aesthetics. Alongside these technical achievements, I was honoured as a WOOP Superstar, a recognition of both performance excellence and the collaborative spirit of working with an amazing team that truly values its people.

As a Senior Tech Lead at HCLTech (Jan 2022 – Dec 2023), I managed and enhanced enterprise applications built on C# .NET, WordPress, and Magento 2, improving functionality and user experience. I oversaw AWS/EC2 and IIS server operations to ensure security and stability during deployments, while also leading project planning, guiding engineers in technology stack selection, and collaborating with DevOps teams to implement efficient CI/CD pipelines.

As a Senior Software Engineer at eBEYONDS (Jun 2019 – Oct 2020), I developed and customized Magento 2 Enterprise modules and themes, maintained multisite stores, and performed AWS server management to strengthen functionality and security. I led project planning and production deployments with minimal downtime, trained junior developers, and designed UAC features surpassing industry standards. Additionally, I provided technical guidance to key clients, including Dilmah Tea, ensuring their Magento 2 Enterprise solutions met the highest performance and security standards.

Software Engineer, Technology Network Australia

At Technology Network Australia (2017 – 2019), I contributed as both a Software Engineer and later a Senior Software Engineer, leading the backend development of the Muve Australia ride-sharing app using PHP, CakePHP, Firebase, RestAPI, and AWS to deliver stability and user satisfaction. I localized the backend for SLT Muve in partnership with Sri Lanka Telecom, tailoring the platform to regional standards, while also integrating SendGrid and researching emerging technologies. In addition, I trained junior developers and provided technical leadership, helping the team adopt new tools and best practices to scale the platform effectively.

As a Senior Web Developer at Webdesigner.lk (2015 – 2017), I built and customized WordPress and Drupal themes and plugins using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to deliver tailored solutions.
